This new format of scoresheet was developed by the American Homebrewers Assn AHA in conjunction with the Beer Judge Certification Program BJCP to provide better feedback to entrants in the National Homebrew Competition or NHC in U S A Score sheets are used to document judges evaluations of entries There are specific scoresheets for beer mead and cider because the criteria for judging each is different Every judge team should have a flight summary sheet for their flight of entries to keep track of entry and score information This form is for the judges reference
Considered experimental these scoresheets were introduced at the National Homebrew Competition in 2018 and used again in 2019 to great success While not officially adopted by the BJCP their use has been increasing in local competitions Available for Beer Mead and Cider All other style types utilize the Classic Scoresheet Entry feedback comment sheets for the 2022 National Homebrew Competition will include enhancements to Judge ID descriptive sensory attributes easy to read visual sliding scales flaws and off flavors and other metrics useful to entrants Comment sheets will not include numerical scoring
