What Size Should A Logo Be

What Size Should A Logo Be As you can always change artboard size and colour settings later and scale your logo infinitely just choose whatever you like If your logo is going to be printed read if you aren t completely sure that the logo is going to be used on screen exclusively it is very wise to do the design of the colour palette in a CMYK environment

As others have mentioned logos should always be designed in vector format for scale ability embroidery screens you never know what the client will do with it latter But I always use a standard letter size canvas horizontal to display the logo or variants for the customer I find it a good size when they call and want a pdf sent over I usually use 500x500 for a standard logo size on Illustrator If its just shapes and letters you can freely resize it without any pixelation Illustrator is what i recommend to use for such task such as logos signs etc

So define your logo on how it should be using a canvas of that specific size It does not matter the pixel size That pixel size is how you want it to be Is there a standard video logo size Thank god no Why would anyone want a standardized look on a logo on a video Make the logo any size you need or want Reproduce the logo at 1 2 1 In most cases this will be the smallest size used for stationery at the corner of a website etc although I have seen smaller logos like 1 4 used on printed materials before At this size you will be able to see if any aspects of the logo are lost at smaller scales Reproduce the logo at 2 3

E100 s advice is spot on A vector application such as Illustrator is the best tool for logo design whether you start on paper and scan it in or work directly within the program This isn t the whole story however Scalability doesn t just involve vectors the detail in a logo must also be adjusted for the size of the finished artwork Could be 32X32 600X400 1024X1024 etc there is no right size If you are making the logo from raster elements then it should be exactly size as needed more or less If it s too small or too big re sizing it will damage the quality Logo with blurred details it s

You can really go with the defaults as this does not really impact your artwork directly unless you are also preparing a presentation of some sort in which case a format might be relevant Otherwise start a new file make it Legal or A4 in size and make sure to select CMYK in the Color Mode box There is no precise pixel size a logo should be The size would depend on what size you are reproducing it at which you failed to mention If the logo is a raster image then to get it really quite sharp then you probably need to have it printed at least at 600dpi
